As a Colorado native, Nick Shore was raised with hockey in his blood. His older brother, Drew, played three seasons at DU and went in the 2nd round (44th overall) of the 2009 NHL draft to the Florida Panthers. Nick maintained the family legacy and played three seasons at DU where he racked up 93 career points after training with the National Development Team. The 6’1″, 194 pound forward was drafted in the 3rd round (82nd overall) in the 2011 NHL draft by the L.A. Kings.

After appearing in 105 AHL games with the Manchester Monarchs, Nick was called up on Monday January 12, 2015 by the Kings. At press time, he has appeared in 4 games for the Kings and is credited with 1 assist.

Here’s a video throwback to Nick in 2013 talking to PDI‘s Paul Santrizos about his experience at DU, and the struggles he faced as a young athlete and how he dealt with them.
